Despite significant global progress, millions of people in rural areas still live without access to electricity, limiting their ability to thrive economically, access modern healthcare and education, or participate fully in digital society. Ghana, however, is changing that narrative.
Ghana’s approach to rural electrification through the National Electrification Scheme (NES) combines grid extension, mini-grids, and off-grid solutions to reach even the most remote communities. However, there are many challenges that are being faced such as infrastructure costs, financing these soluctions and technical hurdles that may be found along the way.
Join us and explore with us Ghana’s progress, potential, and leadership in rural electrification. This session will unpack the country’s electrification strategy and examine why Ghana’s model is increasingly seen as a template for scalable, sustainable, and inclusive energy access empowering communities all over the country.
From overcoming infrastructure challenges to creating economic and social opportunities, this webinar dives deep into how Ghana is building bridges between its rural and urban populations through reliable energy access.
In this webinar we will:
- Understand the structure of Ghana’s rural energy market, the role of NES, and the technical and financial challenges of extending electrification
- Learn how access to electricity is catalyzing economic empowerment, social inclusion, and improved quality of life for rural populations
- Explore the regulatory frameworks, funding strategies, and public-private partnerships helping to scale efforts and maintain long-term impact
- Discover how The REPower Project is accelerating community-level energy access with replicable lessons for broader deployment
- The webinar will explore the policies for Ghana’s last-mile electrification scheme
